The ceramic art of Shiwan is part of the great and ancient Chinese culture.  Generations of the renowned artists, highly skilled in ceramic art, were born there.  Yu-gong-yao Ceramic Art is located in Shiwan.  All its products are created by Zeng Li and Zeng Peng.  Both artists are descendents of art master Zeng Liang whose achievements have had a far-reaching influence in the field of ceramic art.

Zeng Li and Zeng Peng have been engaged in the creation of ceramic arts since 1980s.  They have held a number of personal exhibitions both at home and abroad.  Their works have been widely recognized by their peers and collected by their fans.

Zeng Li and Zeng Peng's work exhibits boundless creativity based on deep tradition and yet still manages to excape the traditional strait-jacket.  Their immersion in the process of creation not only enables them to grow as artists but also let those who love arts enjoy the pleasures of life, making life full of vitality.

Zeng Li (born in 1950) graduated from Guangzhou Art College in 1978.  He began working at Shiwan Artistic Ceramic Company (one of the most famous artistic ceramic companies in Mainland China).  Zeng Peng (brother of Zeng Li) was born in 1953, graduated frm Jingdezhen Pottery School in 1982 and began working at Shiwan Artistic Ceramic Company.  The two brothers gained great fame in China after their exhibitions in Guangzhou and Beijing in 1985.  Their innovations, based on eclectic borrowing from native tradition and many other arts forms, created the most expressive, lively, individualized, and unique images.  Their creations of either figurines, flower vases, or even teapots are totally different from other pottery arists.  Since 1980's, their works have been collecte from all over the world, especialy by museums.  In recent years, their interests are not only in artistic ceramics but also wood furniture and interior design.
